Footwear
- Stand on a sheet of paper with your heel against a wall.
- Mark the tip of your longest toe.
- Measure from the wall to the mark, in centimeters. That's the Foot length column.
The US, UK and EU columns are size labels, and their conversions are approximate. For a child between sizes, choose the larger one.
Kids' apparel
- Height: without shoes, standing straight against a wall, from the floor to the top of the head.
- Chest: around the fullest part of the chest, under the arms.
- Waist: around the natural waist.
Age is only a guide, so go by height first. If your child is between sizes, choose the larger one.
Accessories
- Head circumference (hats and caps): around your head, just above your ears and about one finger-width above your eyebrows.
- Hand circumference (gloves): around your palm at the knuckles, not including the thumb. Measure your dominant hand.
- Hand length (gloves): from the crease of your wrist to the tip of your middle finger.
- Waist (belts): around your waist, where you wear your belt.
- Belt length (belts): on a belt that fits you well, from where the leather folds at the buckle to the hole you use most.
Intimates
- Underbust (bras and bikinis): snugly around your ribcage, directly under your bust.
- Bust (bras): loosely around the fullest part of your bust, wearing a non-padded bra.
- Bust (bikinis): around the fullest part of your bust.
- Waist (briefs): around your waist, where the waistband sits.
- Hip (briefs and bikinis): around the fullest part of your hips.
Jewelry
- Ring diameter: across the inside of a ring that fits you, from edge to edge.
- Ring circumference: wrap a thin strip of paper around the base of your finger, mark where it overlaps and measure that length. Measure at the end of the day, when fingers are at their largest.
- Necklace length: lay a piece of string around your neck where you want the necklace to sit, then measure it. A choker sits at the base of the neck, a princess at the collarbone, a matinee at the top of the bust, and an opera below the bust. A rope is the longest and is often worn doubled.
- Wrist (bracelets): around your wrist, just below the wrist bone. The bracelet length next to it in the chart leaves room for a comfortable fit.
Pets
Measure with your pet standing. If they're between sizes, choose the larger one.
- Back length: from the base of the neck to the base of the tail.
- Chest: around the widest part of the chest, just behind the front legs.
- Neck: around the neck, where the collar sits. A well-fitted collar leaves room for two fingers underneath.
International sizes
The International Sizes template maps size labels across US, UK and EU, so there's nothing to measure.
