Who we are
Easy Size Charts ("the app", "we") is developed by Alakh Software. Merchants install it from the Shopify App Store. For the data in a store, the merchant decides how it is used; we process it only to run the app for them.
Information from merchants
- Store connection. When you install the app, Shopify gives us your store's address and an access token, so the app can read your products and save your charts. The token is kept in our database, which is encrypted at rest.
- What you create. Size charts, templates, earlier versions of each chart, the products each chart applies to, and your settings.
- Product details. To pick the right chart, the app reads a product's tags, collections, vendor, type, SKUs and metafields when its page loads. They are kept in server memory for up to 5 minutes and are not saved to our database.
- Images. Images you add to a chart are uploaded to your own Shopify Files. We keep only the link.
- Support messages. If you contact us, we receive your email address and your message.
Information about shoppers
We do not collect shoppers' names, email addresses, phone numbers, addresses, orders or payment details.
- Size finder. Measurements a shopper enters stay in their browser, and the suggested size is worked out on their device. We only count which size was suggested, with nothing that identifies who asked.
- Anonymous usage counts. For each chart and day, we count views, popup opens and suggested sizes. Merchants see these totals on their Analytics page.
- IP addresses. Used briefly and never saved with any chart data:
- to block abuse: our rate-limit provider keeps the address for less than 60 seconds;
- to estimate unique visitors: the address is combined with a secret that changes every day into a one-way code, which stays in server memory until the end of that day and is then discarded.
- Browser storage. The size chart remembers a shopper's own choices in their browser's local storage: unit (cm or inches), country and size region, language, and their last suggested size. This never leaves their device. The app sets no cookies.
Optional features that load outside content
These apply only when a merchant turns them on:
- Videos. A YouTube or Vimeo video shows a thumbnail image from that service. The video player itself loads only when the shopper presses play, using YouTube's privacy-enhanced mode or Vimeo's Do Not Track setting.
- Custom Google font. The shopper's browser loads the font from Google Fonts. Merchants can host the font file themselves instead.
- Google Analytics or Tag Manager. If a merchant enters a Google Analytics ID, size chart events (such as a chart being opened) are sent to the merchant's own analytics, which their theme already loads. We never load Google Analytics ourselves.
These services handle data under their own privacy policies.
How we use information
- To run the app: show the right chart on each product, save your work, and show your analytics.
- To keep it secure and working: rate limiting and error reports.
- To answer your support requests.
We don't sell data, use it for advertising, or build profiles of shoppers.
How long we keep it
- While the app is installed, we keep your charts and settings.
- When you uninstall, your store's data is hidden immediately. Shopify sends a deletion request (
shop/redact) 48 hours later, and we then permanently delete your store and everything linked to it, including usage counts. Reinstalling within those 48 hours brings your charts back. - Rate-limit entries expire in under 60 seconds. Unique-visitor codes are discarded at the end of each day.
Privacy requests and GDPR
Shopify forwards privacy requests to us automatically:
customers/data_requestandcustomers/redact: we hold no data about individual shoppers, so there is nothing to return or delete.shop/redact: we permanently delete the store's data.
Shoppers with questions should contact the store they shopped with. Merchants can contact us at any time to access or delete their data.
Security
- All traffic uses HTTPS.
- Every request from Shopify is checked against Shopify's signature before we act on it.
- The database is encrypted at rest and accepts connections only from approved addresses.
International transfers
The app runs in the United States and keeps its database in Canada, so store data is processed in those countries.
Children
The app is for businesses and isn't directed at children. We don't knowingly collect children's data.
Changes to this policy
When anything changes, we update this page and the date at the top.
